Did you know that many so-called "American" foods aren't actually American? Including - you guessed it - barbecue! Yahoo has a nifty video on this matter here.
Well I think pretty much everything we eat has its roots in other countries and cuisines. It's kind of our "thing," to take foods from elsewhere, too, and twist them to make them ours over the years. It was an interesting video, too!
I knew that about BBQ and some of the other foods. That's one of the great things about the United States is that we incorporate elements from other cultures into our own. That was a great video too. I thought Haagen Dazs was really Swedish. LOL!
When Ithink American, I tend to think more along the lines of dishes that we inspird by other countrie. Afterall America is the melting pot so it makes sense American food is not actually rooted in America.
